Gstaad-Gstaad

Stage Overview

Distance: 96.4 km Elevation: 1’578 m+ Category: Mountain Stage Difficulty: 4/5
Commentary David Loosli

As in 2024, the 5th Tour de Suisse Women also begins with a mountain stage. Immediately from kilometre 0 – the official start – the road to Saanenmöser begins to climb. Soon after follows the main obstacle of the stage, the Jaun Pass. Anyone starting the tour with tired legs will have a difficult day ahead of them and may already have to kiss goodbye to any hopes of General Classification glory.

Touristic Highlights of the Stage

Jaun Pass

A pass connecting two language regions and in winter is an ideal small ski area for families.

Château de Gruyères

Since the 13th century Gruyères Castle has stood on a green knoll at the base of the impressive Fribourg foothills.

Château-d’Oex

Every year in the last week of January, Château d’Oex hosts the most important alpine ballooning event.

Gstaad

Famous for its charming chalet villages and car-free promenade, Gstaad is also an insider tip for cycling enthusiasts.
